Fear grips at your chest, almost an unnatural amount. There's a cold sweat forming over your body. Whether it's a feeling you're familiar with or not, you can't shake it off. Your heart is pounding, your breaths are coming out unnatural fast, and it's getting worse with each step you're forced into taking.

The twin doors swing open, almost as though on cue. You're inside, but your feet aren't finished. You're led to some strange office, where a mysterious woman is sitting, as though... waiting for you?

"Well, hello! I was wondering when you'd finally arrive," she greets in an... eerily cheerful tone.

You're given a moment to ask questions, all of which she responds with "all in good time" and nothing more. It's after you're quiet (whether it's by choice or by the fact that your voice is suddenly gone), she will go on to explain a few things:

"You've been chosen to be one of many in our newly-created educational system. We're so happy you agreed to come; we do understand that your time is very valuable. Now, we just need your signature -- right here on this line. Once we have that, we can begin the learning experience that we're positive you'll benefit from!"

It seems you have no choice... Do you sign it?

Of course you do. You really do not have a choice in this matter. You'll find a <a href="http://www.whitemagic.com.au/images/products/quills/TQblue.jpg">Blue Quill</a> in your hand. It will be as though something has taken over your hand. In the next moment, you're stabbing yourself (whether it be in the finger, the arm, the leg...) and holding the quill in place for at least five, full seconds. The pain is immense...

But, your hand will be moving the quill to the... very blank piece of paper. Your hand will sign your true name (whether you were aware of it before all this, or not, you suddenly are very aware) in what looks like your handwriting. The quill will vanish the moment your name is written in what is clearly blood.

Words flood the paper. You're only able to catch a small amount of what's on there before the woman snatches the paper towards herself. She gives a sickeningly sweet smile as she very neatly places the paper within a manilla folder.

That's the very last thing you see before you realize you're able to move again.

Murder School is a horror game with comedy undertones! It's set in the small town of Disce (Dee-Shay) where absolutely anything is possible. Activity Check is OPTIONAL (see the FAQ for more details). There will be an optional gamewide HMD every six months, as well as a Love HDM every month.

We'll be providing a setting that offers some humor in the face of things such as murder and death, with many plot paths for players to choose from. This will be one of few warnings in regards to the context of the game. Please take some time to read the <a href="http://death-mods.dreamwidth.org/732.html">FAQ</a> and <a href="http://death-mods.dreamwidth.org/906.html">rules</a> before applying here. Just like with most other DWRP games, there will be some mature content, as well as potential triggers.

Basically, the town itself doesn't know what it wants to be. One day, the characters might find the town to be completely dark for a full twenty-four hours. The next day, they might find the town to be in the middle of war. The next day, the town might be under an alien invasion. It's going to be up to the characters to solve the mystery behind the odd happenings, starting with the school they're forced into and initially unable to leave. They have a strict time limit to set everything back to normal, so it's recommended that they get moving.

There will be vampires, zombies, werewolves, robots... you name it. Think of what would happen if the creators of Scooby Doo, Shaun of the Dead, and Five Nights at Freddy's all got together and made something.

That is going to be based on your level of participation. Everyone will be allowed to app two their first time around, and then only one at a time after that, and only if you submit AC the month before that.

If you idle out, it's only one at a time, and every three months.

Okay, fair enough. So, how do I apply, then...?

By filling out the soul contract he-...ahem, the application <a href="http://death-mods.dreamwidth.org/1679.html">here</a>. Applications will open every month, and only for five days. Due to our desires for population control, we can't extend the time under any circumstances.

How is Activity Check (AC) going to be looking?

Well, as we stated on the profile and in the premise, it's optional! The only thing that will be mandatory is our check-in every month. AC is only for people who wish to play more than two characters. We will require you to submit a grand total of 20 comments between the two characters you're already playing. You cannot be on hiatus with one character, and then only turn in 10 comments with the other character.

It has to be 20 TOTAL comments, divided at least somewhat evenly between the two characters you're playing. For example, something such as the following would be permitted:

Character 1: 9 comments
Character 2: 11 comments

Character 1: 12 comments
Character 2: 8 comments

What we will not accept is:

Character 1: 2 comments
Character 2: 18 comments

Character 1: 6 comments
Character 2: 14 comments

With three characters, it will be 25 divided between the three of them. After that, it's four with 30 comments, five with 35 comments, and so on and so forth. It never has to be divided exactly; it just has to be relatively even. Going above the AC requirements is okay, but going below isn't.

What do you mean by a "check-in" every month?

We want to make sure everyone is here to play and get involved in the plot, but without the stress of having to count comments every month or two. It's for that reason, we require everyone to fill out a simple form and link to their character's tag.

The character tag allows us to see just how active you're being, so it's important to tag a post with your character's name.

Will my character get to keep any of their powers from home?

Absolutely! Even powers that would be considered "game-breaking" will be allowed in!

Whoa... really?

Yep. Even if a character tries to "break" the game, they'll find themselves very sorry for it, later. The amount of damage to any of the school or town will determine their punishment. As for what kinds of punishments will be given, that's all going to be determined by each individual player and the punishment mod.

Events?

We will definitely have them! They're going to be hosted one month at a time. Murder mystery, ghostly haunting, robbery, time travel...you name it. Some events will involve trigger-y subject matter, but we will never require participation of any kind with any of our events. In some cases, we might even have some slice-of-life event going on in the background for those looking for something more relaxed.

Some events will result in a player character's demise.

Whoa... their demise??

Yes! Some characters will die throughout their time in this game, but it will never be mandatory to any specific player's character. Death is not permanent in these cases, unless the player wants that to be how their character exits the game. Unfortunately, in those cases, that particular character will no longer be appable.

What about player-run plots?

How much of an effect will my character have on the plot?

Basically, they're going to impact every little thing. Something as small as a character not shaking an NPCs hand will directly affect the direction of the story.
